Firm History

Founded 1987 in Monterey, California by Devin McGilloway, Devin Financial Group began as a professional CPA firm. The firm's early emphasis was to provide financial planning and tax services to its clients. The firm also provided a wide range of business consulting services particularly to the Hospitality Services Industry.

Devin's keen interest in the creative aspects of financial planning and his belief that CPA'S should be in the forefront of financial planning were the deciding factors in introducing Investment Advisory Services to the firm. In 1999 Devin Financial Group became a Registered Investment Advisor with the State of California.

As our 20th anniversary approached in 2007, Devin came to realize that Devin Financial Group had outgrown its name and developed into far more than just an investment advisory firm: in working with our clients over the years--dealing with the growth of their families, consulting with them on family financial decisions like the new home or change of employment, preparing and implementing retirement budgets, working with them and their families as they faced the complex decisions that come with aging, and guiding them through the demanding details of loss by helping them settle the estate of a loved one--we had become something more. After much consideration of where we were and where we wanted to go, in the direction of being able to help our clients deal with the many issues that affect current and future financial security for themselves and their families, Devin took some bold steps to reshape the firm that would have even more resources to help our family of clients.

In 2007 the firm changed its name to DFG WEALTH ADVISORS to reflect the firm's emphasis on Capital Preservation as well as Wealth Accumulation. An emphasis has been placed on risk management and estate planning as well as money management.

Clients, in addition to our traditional services, are offered an array of investment advisory & planning services ranging from hourly consulting to participating in our hands-on Active Asset Allocation Program (AAAP). Assets under management are custodial at Charles Schwab Institutional.
